Our Mission
At Bellevue Sunrise Childcare, our mission is to nurture the whole child by providing a safe, loving, and engaging environment where children feel supported, valued, and inspired to grow.
We partner with families to lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning, cultivating curiosity, critical thinking, and a genuine love for school.
Through purposeful play, attentive care, and early education, we prepare each child with the social, emotional, and cognitive skills they need to confidently thrive in kindergarten and beyond.
About Us
My name is Cecilia Zhang, and I founded Bellevue Sunrise Childcare out of a deep love for children and a desire to serve families in our community.
I graduated from Zhejiang University with a medical degree in 2003. A few years later I had my first daughter, and a year later my family moved from China to the Bay Area, where my other two children were born. That same year, we moved to Bellevue, Washington—a place we’ve called home ever since.
Raising my own three children sparked a passion in me for early childhood care and education. As a mother, I saw firsthand how important those early years are in building confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning. I also saw how much support parents need—and deserve—in that journey. In 2014, I opened Bellevue Sunrise Childcare in the downstairs of our home with the hope of offering that support to other families, just as I had once needed.
We grew slowly, steadily, and with love. Today, Bellevue Sunrise operates across two locations, caring for over 60 children with the help of 15 incredible teachers. But our heart remains the same. We are here to nurture, care for, and encourage every child who walks through our doors. Whether we’re singing songs, reading stories, or helping with early math and language skills, we do it all with joy, patience, and a deep belief that every child is wonderfully made.
As a Christian, my work is rooted in faith. One verse that has guided me in this journey is from Mark 10:14, where Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” I see each child as a precious gift. It is my honor and calling to care for them, to help them grow in confidence and kindness, and to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond—not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
I feel truly blessed to do what I do every day.
With love,
Cecilia Zhang (张旭霞)
